The “skier’s thumb” is an attack on the internal lateral ligament of the thumb. This usually occurs during a sudden spread of the thumb outwards. In winter sports, this lesion is particularly frequent:
- during a fall, if the thumb gets stuck in the snow and the rest of the body continues
- when the thumb gets stuck in the wrist strap and the stick is stuck in the snow.
